About Beantown CS Dojo
Founder: Ekilisandro Teixeira
Growing up I loved Playing Video Games! When I was around 8 years old my MOM managed to get me a SEGA Genesis, I was so excited to play Sonic, Double Dragon, & Mortal Kombat! I used to have access to a Nintendo & was almost done with Super Mario Bros with Mario & Luigi, so once I got the SEGA it was on! I spent hours playing on the weekends, but I would always wonder how to make a game myself. So, fast forward about 22 years & I was finally introduced to Computer Science Programming through a Coding Bootcamp called MSIMBO out of the Urban League Eastern MA. I was apart of the 1st Cohort for MSIMBO (MSIMBO means CODE in Swahili), here I got introduced to Coding, & I taught myself how to teach myself using resources that are FREE on the World Wide Web. I felt like I was way behind & needed to go to College for CS Programming which I did at the age of 31.
I decided to start Beantown CS Dojo in 2025 because I love Coding, & I love spreading the KNOWLEDGE that comes with CS Programming, & I needed a way to spread that KNOWLEDGE to my Neighborhood in Boston, MA! I always felt like it was a disservice to African American Communities to not have programs teaching the Youth & Young Adults Computer Programing aka CODING. I was 30 when I learned that CODING was the main thing that makes Video Games work the way they work, along with Game Design you can create a Video Game like Sonic, Fortnite, & COD. Because it took me so long to be introduced to CS Programming, I want to solve that problem by providing an Introduction to Computer Programming to Ages 8-20. Alongside code.org platform for CS Programming uses Programming Languages HTML, CSS, JavaScript for Web Dev, C#, C++, JAVA for Software Dev.
Using Unity Learn to assist with Game Dev for Students that might be a little more advanced than others, Unity Game Engine uses the Programming Language C#.
We also provide a Drone Building/Programming & Piloting Program for Ages 12-20. We get Students prepared for the Part 107 Drone Piloting License for Students Starting at 15 & a half years old (16 is the youngest to get Part 107 from FAA). We Build Drones & Program them, & use them to practice our Piloting Skills.
About 5 years ago I had the pleasure to work with Tech Goes Home and provide Services to Seniors 55+ using Google Products & Navigating Android Phones, I really enjoyed working with Seniors. I enjoyed how happy they were when they discovered something new with their Android Phones or Navigating ZOOM. I miss working with my Cohort in 2020, so I decided to continue the Partnership with TGH, & complete the training so I can provide a Course for Seniors 55+, teaching Seniors how to navigate Google Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, & More. This time instead of teaching Android Phones I will be covering all Smart Phones, this way we can add iPhone to the mix. I hope to run this in a Hybrid form & when the Students complete the course they can receive Chromebooks to continue what they learned.
One Service that the Founder (Eki Teixeira) has been providing to Minority Owned Businesses for over 3 Years now is Website Building using Website Builders like WiX, WordPress, & other Website Building Platforms. The Unique part about a website created by Eki is he will Teach the Client how to maintain the website created. Most Web Developers like to make it so that Client has to pay a maintenance fee, here at Beantown CS Dojo we believe in spreading KNOWLEDGE not hoarding & charging for it! Below are my 2 most recent WEBSITES created!
